Showcase Your Work Shot On RED

As part of our Pond5 + RED partnership, we’re launching a new RED Camera filter to showcase all the amazing footage shot on RED Digital Cinema professional cameras by Pond5 artists.

We’d love for you to become Pond5 artist and showcase your work on our platform. By adding your RED content to the site, you may also be chosen to be part of an all-new curated RED Collection where you can receive global promotion.

WHY CONTRIBUTE?

  • Earn incremental revenue by monetizing footage to which you own the rights.
  • Select your own prices and receive 50% of every sale.
  • Content is supported by a global sales team that caters to a marketplace of buyers all around the world.
  • You retain the rights and control the pricing of your content.

GETTING STARTED

  • Provide only material that you have the full rights to license.
  • Set up your Pond5 contributor account.
  • Ensure you have the proper model & property releases if applicable. You will need to upload these along with the associated clips.

HOW TO PREPARE RED FOOTAGE

  • R3D files should be uploaded within a ZIP file containing:

■  raw .r3d file (required)

■  identical .mov file (required)

■ .rmd file (optional)

  • Please prepare your media following these technical specifications:

■  Resolution: 1920x1080 resolution and above

■  FPS: 23.978 / 24 / 25 / 29.97 / 30

■  Format: Quicktime .mov

  • You will have the option to offer two price points for your items: one for the ZIP bundle (.r3d + .mov) and one for the individual .mov.
  • Please prepare your footage without black bars (letterboxed) and export clips in their native dimensions.
  • If you are not able to provide raw R3D files, we will accept standalone .mov versions with a maximum file size of: 3GB (HD), 5GB (4K), 6GB (8K)

HOW TO UPLOAD

  • Once you have your account setup and have prepared your files, you can begin uploading content.
  • To make your items visible within the RED filter, please enter “RED” in the camera model data field for each of your clips shot on RED.
  • If you have a large number of files, you can upload via FTP and use our CSV template to add metadata.
  • You can select the prices for your clips, or we can guide you through pricing.
  • Once your content is uploaded, our curators will review for approval. This process usually takes around 3-4 days.
  • Once your files are approved, they are officially on the marketplace! You will receive 50% of every sale — the highest payout in the industry.

HOW TO MARK ‘RED’ AS A CAMERA TYPE

  • Start uploading content.
  • To make your items visible within the RED filter, please enter “RED” in the camera model data field for each of your clips shot on RED.

HOW TO MARK ‘RED’ CAMERA TYPE IN BULK

You can also adjust this field in bulk using CSVs. Applying CSVs is a powerful option for adding metadata such as titles, keywords, and ‘RED’ camera type in bulk to several of your uploads at once.

CSV stands for "Comma Separated Value." It's essentially a text file, but you can use any spreadsheet editor, including Excel, OpenOffice, or Google Docs, to edit it.

CREATING AND APPLYING A CSV FILE

  • You can use our CSV template here.
  • The main values required for a successful upload to our CSV system are:
    1. originalfilename or clipid → *for originalfilename, please make sure you delete/remove any special characters. To avoid confusion, make sure you only apply either the ClipID or OriginalFilename — not both.
    2. specifysource - camera type ‘RED’
    3. title
    4. description
    5. keywords → *keywords should always be separated by a comma and a space
    6. Price

Here is an example of how your CSV should look:

  • Once your metadata is added to the .csv file, you can apply (upload) the .csv via the Apply CSV page.
