On most other platforms, I can use "-" or "NOT" ahead of a search term I want to exclude from my results. Example: "child -cry" will find happy non-crying kids. Why doesn't Pond5 follow the same search practice?

This is a great question! If you include "not" you should get the results you need. For example: "happy not child" will find the keyword "happy" and not the keyword "child" - so only results featuring happy adults will show up. Or like your example, "child NOT cry"
